ADIEU ANGIE

1983 - 2017

Created by Joyce 6 years ago

Angela Uba, as I always referred to her, was a sister & a friend.

Our paths crossed as young girls in a town called Bida. Though soft spoken & quiet, she had a strong willed & was resilient. Her special qualities flagged her for leadership. She was appointed as the Labour Prefect in our time at FGGC Bida, Niger State; Nigeria.

Angela loved field sports and remained undefeated in Shotput as far as I recall. A member of the Blue House (House C) & of the 1986 set. Angela lived in Lowell, Massachusetts with her husband and children.

I was so eager to reunite with Angela after 30 years of leaving school as plans began in 2015. We started chatting & exchanging pictures of our families whilst reminiscing of the good old days back at school. One day, she said to me, 'I don't think I will make the reunion next year'; I was sad to hear that. I tried to persuade her to come, mentioned so many reasons why she must be in attendance. All I remember is - suddenly feling deflated, not just perplexed but bewildered of the words my ears beheld. Fighting the tears and trying to act all tough, I responded - 'we serve a living God, He is afterall the greatest of all physicians, He will heal you and make you whole again'. I remained speechless as she began to encourageme rather. It was no surprise as she has always being a tough cookie. In the words of AA - 'She was a fighter till the end and even through her pain she kept the forum alive, wouldn't let the illness get the better of her...'.

Our amiable HG (AS) wrote - 'Sweet strong sterling Angie. She fought hard and well and taught us vital lessonsabout hope, courage and endurance most of all about the power of love to hold on...'.

What can I say, Angie's demise has left each and everyone of us, her family and even colleagues feeling empty. A huge void has been created in our hearts, & not even time can fill it.

May Angie's gentle soul rest in the bosom of God Almighty. We love you so much, but God love you more.

Rest in Peace sister!

Adieu ANGIE!!
